Summer snack hacks

It’s summer and if you’re a parent, you’ve already heard, “I want a snack”, a squillion times since the last day of school…and this is just the first week of June! We’ve got a long haul of snacking to come, so here’s our best advice to handle it with ease.

snack hacks

Make a perishable snack station in the fridge. Choose an easy-to-grab shelf or drawer and get ready to chop and ration. Chop the veggies before you put them away from the grocery store. When it comes to eating, we’re all looking for the lowest hanging fruit, literally and figuratively. a single-serving Tupperware of sliced cucumber is way more appealing than a whole cuke, that requires a knife, cutting board, and time. So slice the fruit, cut the grapes into serving size bunches, and buy the cheese in individually-wrapped sticks.

One caveat though, we don’t recommend washing your berries and grapes to store. When one figures out how to do this and still preserve the full life of the fruit, let us know!

Pantry snacks are a little easier to manage, as they don’t go bad. But separating into single-servings ahead of time will prevent the box binging that is so inviting! Make a basket or bin in the pantry for the sole purpose of the grab-n-go snack. Be it an individual bag of chips, single-wrapped granola bar, or a pre-measured container of goldfish. Make it easy, and you’ll set yourself up for success!
